Collections and archives

Lend us your archive

For a whole collection rather than a single item: boxes, scrapbooks, filing cabinets, a lifetime of programs. Tell us what you have and we will work out together how to get it digitized.

Some of the most important material in ventriloquism is sitting in private hands, uncatalogued, often with an owner who has no idea how rare it is. Every year some of it is thrown out by someone clearing a house. Tell us what you have and we will take it from there.

Nothing here commits you to parting with anything. Name, email and a rough description is enough to start the conversation.

Who you are

Never published. It is how we reply.

Optional and never published. Some of this is just faster on a call.

Collector, family member, club archivist, bought it at an estate sale, inherited it, no idea. All fine.

What you have

Tick anything that applies. A rough answer is genuinely useful; you do not need to have gone through it first.

How much of it, what kind of condition, anything that stands out. Guesswork is fine here, just say it is a guess.

Performers, figures, theatres, clubs, conventions. Names are the single most useful thing you can give us, even if you are unsure of the spelling.

If you are not sure, say so. A blank is more useful to us than a guess.

Where it is, and what you would like to happen

Only so we know whether scanning it in person is even possible.

Tick anything you would consider. Nothing here is binding, and "let me think about it" is a perfectly good answer.

Samples

If you have a few photos of the material, or of a page or two, send them. It helps enormously to see what we are looking at. Not required.

Up to 8. Photographs of the items themselves are fine, they do not need to be proper scans.

Permissions

We will not publish anything you send here without asking you first, and nothing you tick above commits you to parting with anything you own.
