Ventriloquism.org

For anyone with history

Help us save the history

You do not have to be a ventriloquist. A photograph, a program from a show you saw, a story your grandfather told you, a scan of a letter. If you have something connected to this art, it is part of its record.

Send one thing or a dozen. Small contributions are how most of an archive actually gets built.

What have you got?

Names are the most useful thing you can give us, even if you are unsure of the spelling. If it is about more than one person, list them all.

As much or as little as you like. Write it the way you would say it out loud. We would rather have the rough version than a polished one you never send.

When and where

Approximate is completely fine. If you are not sure, leave it blank. A blank is more useful to us than a guess, because a guessed date in an archive gets quoted elsewhere and turns into a fact.

How do you know this?

This is the question that matters most to us, and there is no wrong answer. It tells us how to weigh what you have sent and what we still need to check. "I was told this years ago and I am not certain" is genuinely useful.

If you read it somewhere, tell us where if you can. If someone told you, who?

Files

Photographs, scans, screenshots. Up to 8 at a time. Phone photos of a page or an object are fine, they do not need to be proper scans.

Credit and permissions

If you would rather not be named, leave this empty and we will not name you.

Who you are

Never published. It is how we reply if we have questions.

Optional and never published.
